I plan and deliver sessions in your home or at school, allowing your child to feel comfortable in their chosen environment. I believe in boosting personal values and learning behaviours so that the child can feel more confident and able. I work closely with schools and deliver sessions in the school setting if it is appropriate. Children often work best in small groups, so I can also work with schools to deliver on site.
Having taught in many primary schools over the last 15 years, I have decided that my passion is for inclusion. Too many children find themselves anxious and alone, unable to access the education they need. I work closely with families and fellow professionals to provide your child with bespoke lessons and a much needed boost to their emotional well-being. The long term aim is to re-integrate children into a school setting. I am experienced in teaching from Year R up to Year 6 and have taught Englilsh, Maths, Art, Phonics, PSHE, DT, Science, Geography, History, Computing, PE and Music.
In order for a child to thrive, I work on these six core values. This leads to learning about co-operation, team work, self-esteem, self-belief, open-mindset, problem solving and eventually a love of learning.
Recognising feelings, share with others, feel 'heard', problem solving and resolution.
Manage small change, learn how to ask for help and feel comforted.
Follow simple instructions, try to do things for themselves, learn to fail.
Find resources, explore and practise. Exploration and wonder.
Knows that responses are predictabe and consistent.
Helping others feels good!
Notice reactions and responses in others. Recognise and respond to feelings in others. Empathy is demonstrated. Waiting for turns.
Label and model emotions in others.
Try again and celebrate the process of failing. Reflect on experiences. Accept when things go wrong.
Allow others to provide comfort and support when things go wrong. Positive reinforcement for 'having a go'.
Able to sustain play and activities for extended periods. Collaboration with others and an interest in their ideas.
Verbalise what focus looks like and encouraged to be independent and have self-belief.
Sharing, turn taking. Clear understanding of what to expect and what is expected. Predictable timetables and routines that feels safe.
Risk asses their environment and recognise what is not safe. Trust and bond with others.
I believe in creating a nurturing environment which fosters emotional resilience. When a child feels comfortable they can start to create and flourish, and this can create a lifelong love of learning.
